New Site Design

As i am sure you can tell. The site has a new design. The previous design was only temporary until we got some members and i had some time to fiddle with css.
Any comments on the design would be gratefully appreciated. Or if anyone can spare some time to give me a hand?
I am not a designer and I dont claim to be, so please dont be too critical ;)

But more info for that, if anyone here is a designer and would be kind as to knock up a logo for us that would be grand.

Thanks for the feedback aimee. Was trying to find a more "vibrant" picture of the cathedral but couldnt find any decent cc ones online. So unfortunately had to use this dreary one. Look at the sky, not even a blue tint!

What a lovely view of the cathedral! :)
Personally i'm not too fond of fixed-position backgrounds, and the boxes are a little too transparent for my liking. Semi-see-through is such a tricky look to pull off.
